Causing Controversy: My Least Fave Thing To Do:

I was up all night last night because I wanted to watch the election before starting my 6 page communications paper (complete with 6 sources) on a topic that I hadn't chosen yet. At 7:30 this morning, I finished my paper (possibly the best I've written in college- woo!), and got on facebook, where the endless cries for help and bitching about the outcome of the election filled the page.

I really just could not deal with that. So, being EXHAUSTED and annoyed, I wrote a note to my fellow republicans saying:

Okay so I don't really try to affiliate either way with either party, but I will admit that I swing more to the conservative side.

The thing is- in my opinion- either way, America did not really choose the most worthy of candidates to run for president. I wasn't happy when Obama won last night, but I wouldn't have been all too happy if McCain won either.

HOWEVER:

Now it's over. Let's please calm down a little. President Obama is what he is: The President of the United States of America. It's not an easy job. He won the election...hmm....HOURS ago. And already people are dismissing him. It sucks that he has to start out this way, with so many people degrading him so completely without even giving him a chance to do well. If you can't respect a guy for being your president who so far, as president, has a clean slate- then really? Who can you respect? People who are claiming that they want to move, ha-ha-ha. Everyone knows that you don't actually plan on moving, but if you continue complaining about something that hasn't even gone wrong yet- everyone else is really going to want you to follow up on your threats. I hear New Zealand is indeed beautiful. Have a nice time, I will let you know what happens over here.

Because, even if I don't agree with the president- he is still my president. I still love you, America. I hope you stay strong, and I hope that everything turns out for the very best.

If you can't be optimistic- please just be quiet...

I didn't realize so many people would disagree with me. I usually have always tried to be a really optimistic person, and I can see good in every single person.

As a disclaimer to this note- I guess I should have been more clear that yes- I too am scared for America. I think we should prepare for war, because if the troops get pulled out of Iraq- I personally believe that Iraq will follow them. And then there will be war IN America, and I can't even begin to tell you how frightening that is.

But the thing is- I HATE how whiny and bitchy republicans are sounding. It kind of reminds me of how the democrats were in 2000. And I just wanted everyone to shut up when so far- none of that drastic change has even happened. And being optimistic- all I can do is pray and hope that it is as positive as can be, even though my gut feeling is telling me otherwise.

It's been wrong before. My gut feeling. Remember when I was going to have a baby? I REALLY THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE A BABY. And then I miscarried. So, where were you on that one, gut feeling?

All I know for sure is, either way this country was screwed.

Gotta say though- From segregation to nomination in half a century is pretty cool.

As Dave says- the government is not our country, so America- I still love you lots. Good luck, and stay strong and united. Please.
